The donation for these programs goes directly into buying drugs and all supplies for TNR and of course food and housing. For the rest days, the students may opt to stay at the shelter and help or they may go to the city for tour.

Students work under the supervision of our Thai staff vet. Depending on surgical experience, students will assist Dr. Thai while she operates, or perform sterilization surgeries themselves directly under her close supervision.

We do not allow any vet students, or even first year graduate vets, to participate in surgery without qualified veterinary supervision.

Students are not allowed to perform unassisted surgery on owned animals, but if the vet sees that you are capable, she allows strays to be worked on independently while she is in the room. The students performing surgery alone is not a guarantee. It will be the vet’s discretion. On TNR/surgery days, students may do at least 2-3 animals.

On non surgery day, student groups take over the shelter medicine rounds from staff, administering medications, treating with fluids, changing bandages, and cleaning in the shelter as well. This help is also appreciated on surgery days as well. Students will have the opportunity to work out in the community as well, helping treat animals at Buddhist temples and other areas where strays gather.
